If dopamine décor had a poster child, it might just be Dani Klaric 👩🎨
Known for her kaleidoscopic sense of style and a bold, retro-infused take on interiors, Dani has built a creative universe online that’s part vintage treasure trove, part colour therapy session. With over 1M Instagram followers and a refreshingly unfiltered approach to design, she invites her community to lean into playfulness, nostalgia and — above all — personal flair.
So, when Dani shared plans for a buttery-yellow kitchen refresh (yes, you read that right), we knew it was going to be a space full of sunshine, stories and special details. And when our solid brass BOBBIN Pulls made the cut? Well, we’ll admit — we did a little happy dance 🕺
We caught up with Dani to chat colour, character and why hardware really is the jewellery of the home 💍
Dani! From the outside looking in, you have a bold and courageous approach to style — from your fashion choices through to interior design. What inspired your love for colour, print and playfulness?
Thank you so much, that truly means a lot. My love for colour and playfulness really started from wanting to create an environment that felt like me. I was raised in a very minimal, neutral environment, and when I finally had the freedom to design my own spaces, it was like discovering a new part of myself. Colour became my way of expressing joy, personality and creativity.
I also fell in love with the storytelling aspect of design — how you can mix eras, textures and prints to create something deeply personal. I don’t really believe in strict rules when it comes to style — I believe in designing based on emotion. If something makes you smile, sparks a memory, or just feels right, it belongs. That’s really the heart of my approach to both interiors and fashion.
You’ve been working away at a kitchen refresh, which we’re delighted to play a part in. You opted for butter yellow paint for the cabinet fronts, then our solid brass BOBBIN Pulls with a backplate. How would you describe this look, and how does the space make you feel?
Yes! I’ve been dreaming up this kitchen refresh for a while, and it’s been such a joy seeing it come to life — especially with the BOBBIN Pulls as the finishing touch. The butter yellow paired with the solid brass creates this perfect balance of warmth and charm. It feels nostalgic, playful and elevated all at once.
The space now feels like a little burst of sunshine — inviting, happy, and full of character. It’s a mix of retro and timeless, and it just makes me want to be in there, cooking, creating, and hosting. It feels like me.
Designing a kitchen can be tricky, plus is pretty subjective! What are 3 non-negotiables you had when redesigning your kitchen?
Honestly, kitchens are so personal — but for me, there were a few non-negotiables I knew I needed from the start.
First, colour. I wanted it to feel warm, pretty and happy the second you walked in, which is why I went with that butter yellow. Second, hardware!!! Hardware is so important because it's the small details that will make a huge change. Hardware is like jewellery in a kitchen. And the BOBBIN Pulls added that perfect vintage charm. Third, a backsplash that brings it all together. I think people underestimate how important backsplash is — it’s not just functional, it’s where the whole vibe ties in. And above all, I wanted character over trends. It had to feel collected, nostalgic and totally me.
We think you’ll agree that small, decorative details can elevate a project. Which home touchpoints do you consider most important and take the most pride in?
Absolutely agree — the small details are everything. For me, it’s the hardware, the lighting, the electrical switches and the styling moments that bring a space to life.
Hardware feels like the jewellery of the home — it’s one of the first things you touch and interact with every day, so I always choose pieces that feel special and well-made. The right pull or knob can completely shift the energy of a space. Same goes for switch plates and outlets — I love swapping standard ones for beautiful, elevated options. It’s such an overlooked detail, but it instantly makes a room feel more considered and complete.
Lighting sets the mood, and I always go for sculptural, unexpected pieces that feel like art. And finally, it's the layered styling — books, art, vintage finds — that make everything feel personal and lived in. Those are always the touchpoints I take the most pride in. They might seem small, but they’re what make a space feel finished, intentional, and full of soul.
You recently hit 1M followers on Instagram, which is phenomenal 👏 How does your creative community influence your interior design choices?
Thank you so much! Hitting 1M was such a surreal moment, and I’m so grateful for the creative community that’s been with me through every part of this journey.
My community inspires me constantly — whether it’s through the DMs, comments, or even seeing how they style their own spaces. It pushes me to stay bold, try new things, and keep having fun with design. I think it’s easy to fall into trends or play it safe, but my audience reminds me that there’s so much beauty in taking risks and doing what feels true to you.
They’re such a big part of my creative process — it never feels one-sided. It feels like we’re growing and evolving together.
